Verify your identity with BVN or NIN
Why we ask for your BVN or NIN, what we do with it, and how to fix a failed check.
Last updated: 13 October 2026
We use your BVN or NIN only to confirm you are who you say you are. Identity verification is required by Nigerian regulators and helps prevent fraud. It unlocks installment plans and credit scoring.
Your BVN doesn't let us see your bank balance or move money from your account.
If verification fails
- Double-check the number you entered — BVN and NIN are both 11 digits.
- Make sure your name and date of birth match your BVN record exactly.
- If only part of the check passed, we save your progress. Add the missing detail and we'll finish the check.
- If it still fails, contact support and we'll help you complete it.
No BVN yet?
A verified BVN is currently our main identity check, so you'll need one to apply. We're working on NIN-led sign-up for people without a BVN and will announce it when it's ready.
